June 2023 Let the Heat begin!!

There has been plenty of work to do at the garden!!  We dug up all of the potatoes (the reds were the best!) and we also picked all the green beans and pulled the plants.  We made 19 bags of produce and took them around to the neighbors close to the garden.  We included a note:  From the Tyler Community Garden and included our phone number, so they wouldn't worry where this food came from!  Many people were very appreciative of the produce!!

We have planted a second crop of green beans, and additional watermelon plants.

A neighbor close to the garden had a large branch of his tree break off and had no way to remove it...so several gal missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints took on the task and carried it across the street to the foliage discard pile.  Everyone felt blessed!!

Video of the Past Year of Work!

 Tyler Community Garden video

So many people have helped during the past year to make the Tyler Community Garden a reality.  Businesses have pitched in several times!  We are soooo grateful to Tractor Supply on the Loop and to McCoy's on the Loop.  They have been VERY generous and have made the garden a reality by their support.

Texas Organic REALLY blessed us with donating two large dump trucks of compost AND hauling off two dump truck loads of brush that we cut out of the garden area!!  It was a LOT!!

Anyone who wants to help in the garden is welcome to join in!!  There is no cost to help out!!  Everything at the garden has been donated.  We just labor in the garden for the sheer joy of helping God's creations grow and love the peace and tranquility that is there, also.

It's MAY already!!!

A lot has happened in the past three months!!  Here's a quick update:

A young man in Tyler needed to complete an Eagle Scout Project.  Anyone involved in scouting knows that this is a sizeable project, meant to show the young man has learned organizational skills, can draw up and plan and implement it, including fund raising, organizing helpers, getting approval for the project and then carrying it out.  Will Roberts did exactly that, and the Tyler Community Garden is an even better place because of it!!  Thank you to Will and all of his helpers!!

The garden continues to grow and thrive!!!  Peas are nearly ready to pick, carrots and radishes are ready!  Lettuce and spinach have been cut and need to be cut again!  The okra, green beans, cucumbers, pumpkins, cantaloupe, squash, and watermelon are coming up.  We planted peanuts and they should be popping out of the soil any time now!!  AND the sunflowers add a pop of color to the entire garden!  If you want to be a part of this beautiful COMMUNITY garden, please call or text 435-632-6733.

February Fun in the Garden!!

It seems that with the fickle weather we haven't done a whole lot in the garden except for the occasional weeding work.  Trying to keep on top of that part of the garden is never-ending!

Saturday we had a work party with a little over thirty people there to help!!  It was great!  Between weeding tons, and planting potatoes, peas, onion sets, radishes, lettuce, spinach, and parsley we had plenty to do for everyone!!  And, after everything was done, with everything watered in, some of the missionaries decided there was a tree that needed to be helped down since it was dead.  They had a ton of fun!!

Thanks to everyone who came and helped!!
